What's the meaning of "salad days"?

According to Mearriam-Webster dicionary 
salad days:  time of youthful inexperience or indiscretionmy salad days when I was green in judgment — William Shakespeare; also :  an early flourishing period 

I consider myself to be in salad days. A period of learning and growing. But, do salad days  have an end?
